Pyrki is Kartoflanie's brand-new group for kids. We start with games, rhythm, and the basic steps, and build toward real dances and real performances alongside the adult ensemble.
Why Pyrki? It comes from pyry — the western Polish, Poznań-region word for ziemniaki, potatoes. So if the grown-ups are the Kartoflanie, the kids are our little Pyrki.
Right before the adult rehearsal — drop the kids off, then stay and dance yourself.

Not at all. Pyrki is open to every child in the Boise area, whatever their background. Instruction is in English — we just pick up a few Polish words for the steps along the way.
No. We teach everything from scratch, starting with games and rhythm before we get to real choreography. Complete beginners are exactly who this group is for.
You're welcome either way. Plenty of parents stay and watch, and plenty use the hour to run errands. Since the adult rehearsal starts right after at 1:00 PM, some parents stay and dance themselves.
Not to start. We'll sort out authentic Polish folk costumes when the group is ready to perform. For weekly classes, comfy clothes are all you need.
